The ultimate twin gear/triturating juicer machine brands. The world of juicing has endless different machines to buy, and terms to wade through, whether it’s citrus, cold press or vertical juicers. But the champion of home juicers, for the tastiest yet healthiest juice imaginable, is the twin gear variety.

The twin gear juicer is the next level up from cold-press, AKA masticating juicers. Masticating juicers are already superior to centrifugal juicers, but the special feature of twin gear juicers is their added triturating stage. That’s why they’re also known as triturating juicers. The fresh fruits and vegetables pass through two inwardly rotating twin gears, with a hairline gap of just 0.1mm between them.

The produce is ground and crushed to the finest level, breaking apart cell membranes and releasing nutrients much more effectively than cheaper centrifugal juicers. Like normal masticating juicers (“slow juicers”), twin gear juicers operate at slow speeds, preventing oxygen spoilage, foaming, and maintaining much more of the raw nutrients from the produce. Along with those nutrients comes more health benefits, colour and flavour.

Because of the slow, grinding gears, twin gear juicers are also particularly effective at juicing thick, fibrous vegetables like kale and wheatgrass. Twin gear juicers also have a very high juice yield, extracting as much liquid as possible and leaving leftover pulp which is as dry as a bone.

That’s why today, we will discuss the top twin gear juicer brands available, and aid you in your quest to send your health, energy and vitality through the roof.

While the basic twin gear concept stays the same, different products still have different features, whether it’s the materials, the warranty, safety mechanisms, and interesting add-ons like pasta makers. My top all-round recommend is the Green Star GSE-5000, while the Super Angel Premium Deluxe wins if the price is no barrier.

Let’s get started:

One – Tribest Green Star Elite GSE-5000

The most well rounded twin gear juicer choice. The Green Star GSE-5000 contains almost every useful feature for tasty and highly nutritious juice, yet still has a relatively affordable price tag.

Firstly, the Green Star GSE-5000 uses a three-stage masticating juicing technique – cutting, slicing and triturating, designed to imitate human teeth. The machine operates at 100- 120 chews a minute, while the Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) is a mere 110, meaning that less oxygen is introduced to the juice and the nutrients are kept intact.

Consequently, the juice from the GSE-5000 has a maximum shelf life of 72 hours, an impressive duration. The Green Star is particularly effective for leafy green vegetables. like kale or wheatgrass. Importantly, this juicer has a pressure adjusting knob, allowing you to change the juice compression for soft fruits like oranges or hard vegetables like kale, or a mixture of both, to produce the best quality juice possible.

With this juicer, Tribest has introduced a larger twin gear size, meaning that more juice is squeezed out than ever. The extraction of juice from the pulp is impressive, achieving a 4/1000 clearance rate, with hardly any juice left in the waste pulp.

Another advantage is the inbuilt accessories the Green Star GSE-5000 comes with. You receive a food processor for making nut butter, frozen sorbets, pasta noodles, salsas and more.

As for the cleaning process, every part is dishwasher friendly, and easily detachable. Cleaning this twin gear juicer manually should take about 5 minutes, and you receive 2 free cleaning brushes to help you. Another convenient feature is the GSE-5000’s automatic pulp ejection.

Are there any downsides? The feed chute is slightly small, at 1.5 inches wide, meaning that you’ll have to cut up your apples or oranges before feeding them in. Also, it’s a given with any slow juicer, but the 110RPM will take longer to make juice compared to the blizzard-like speed of centrifugal juicers.

But on the other hand, the Green Star GSE-5000 also operates particularly quietly. Then there’s the 100% BPA-free plastic, to avoid contamination of your nutritious juice with unhealthy artificial chemicals. There’s even a 12 year warranty, a detachable cord for easy storage, and a built-in handle for easy transportation.

All in all, the GSE-5000 is very difficult to beat for a mid-priced twin gear juicer.

Two – Super Angel Premium Deluxe

If you’re willing to go all out on making nutritious, antioxidant filled juice and enriching your health with it day-in, day-out, then this is the juicer for you. The Super Angel Premium Deluxe is the most expensive twin gear juicer, but also the best one with ease.

What are its advantages over cheaper brands? Firstly, the Super Angel Premium Deluxe consists entirely of surgical grade stainless steel, steel which will never corrode after months of usage. The cheaper Super Angel juicers also use stainless steel, but only food grade (which is still top of the line) steel.

The lack of plastic eliminates any risk of chemical exposure, whether it’s BPA or phthalates. But the juicing techniques themselves are also top quality. This juicer operates at 86 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM), a particularly slow and effective pace. Little foam will form and hardly any oxygen will damage the juice.

The Super Angel Premium Deluxe has a minuscule hairline gap, for squeezing as much juice from your fruits and vegetables as physically possible. While twin gear juicers barely produce any heat normally, this juicer has a built-in cooling system, to protect the all-important antioxidants from destruction.

The warranty on this machine is 10 years, while almost every component is dishwasher friendly (use the top rack), with the one exception being the O-ring of the screen housing. The Super Angel Premium Deluxe comes with a free cleaning brush, and also included is a recipe book, scraper, and pulp collector.

Speaking of which, the machine features external pulp ejection, meaning that you don’t have to dissemble the machine constantly. The juicer operates very quietly too, and the one downside is the slightly small 1.2 inch feed chute. However, cutting up your fruit and vegetables will only add slightly more time. This juicer was even upgraded in 2015 to feature an anti-jamming system.

The Super Angel Premium Deluxe is the greatest twin gear juicer yet created.

Three – Tribest GS-P502 Greenstar Pro

The Green Star GS-P502 is an even stronger version of the Green Star GSE-5000. For a slightly higher price, you receive a number of new features for healthier, more nutritious juice and extra convenience.

Firstly, while this machine’s outer housing consists of BPA-free plastic, the inner gears which actually masticate the fruits and vegetables consist of 100% stainless steel. In other Green Star models, the twin gears contained small parts of plastic (albeit BPA-free plastic).

The GS-P502 also features an inbuilt cooling fan, to keep your juice particularly fresh and nutritious on a warmer day. There’s even a tamper holder in the GS-P502, to keep the juicer stored neatly as a complete package.

Additionally, the Green Star GS-P502 is suitable for commercial usage, whether you’re running a juice bar or health-oriented restaurant, and has a 3 year warranty for commercial usage, with the household warranty being 15 years.

As for the identical features, they remain outstanding. Automatic pulp ejection, for extra convenience and freedom to use your juicer daily without worrying about hassle. Dishwasher safe parts for easy cleaning, and a free cleaning brush to manually clean smaller parts of the juicer, and a scraper.

The plastic components are all BPA free and won’t contaminate the juicer. The revolutions per minute (RPM) figure is 110, identical to the GSE-5000 and ideal for oxidation and foam free juice, and therefore more nutritious and tastier juice. The GS-P502 is also a quiet machine, and the inbuilt food processor allows you to make nut butters, salsa and pasta noodles to your heart’s content.

The flaws are also similar, as the 1.5 inch wide, square-shaped feeding chute is slightly small. The pace of juicing is fairly slow, and you can only operate the juicer continuously for 30 minutes. But these are only flaws of convenience and not juice quality.

Finally, the GS-P502 features the jumbo-sized twin gears that made the GSE-5000 so effective, compared with the large-sized twin gears of cheaper Green Star juicers. Reviewers say that the waste pulp is particularly dry with this model, indicating high juicing efficiency.

For maximum juice extraction, and maximum juice nutrition, the Green Star GS-P502 is almost perfect.

Four – Tribest Green Star GS-5300

The most expensive Green Star twin gear juicer that I recommend. Originally, I planned to recommend the GS-1000, 2000, and 3000 series as a great cheap option, but after heavy research, there’s no confirmation of whether their plastic materials are BPA free. While BPA only tends to leach during heat, and twin gear machines juice at a cold temperature, a hot day or stuffy kitchen could still contaminate your juice and send it into the danger zone.

That’s why if you do want the cheapest brand possible, I recommend the BPA-free Omega TWN30S instead.

As for the GS-5300, it consists of plastic, but is completely BPA free. It’s similar to the GSE-5000 overall, but comes with a free pasta making kit. You can easily press your raw pasta dough into noodles of different shapes, whether it’s normal wheat dough or a healthy homemade invention like sweet potato or banana flour dough. This video by Tribest will show you how to use it.

Elsewhere, the GS-53000 remains as complete as ever. This juicer brings the 3 stage slow juicing process of cutting, slicing and triturating. It features jumbo-sized twin gears for maximum juice extraction, approximately one inch longer than the standard Green Star twin gears.

The Green Star GS-5300 has a high juice yield, producing extremely dry leftover pulp. The parts are almost all dishwasher friendly and the machine comes with a free cleaning brush and scraper. The revolutions per minute (RPM) rate is 110, identical to the GS-P502 and perfect for the freshest and richest juice.

The GS-5300 also features detachable power cords, a safety switch which disables the juicer when the hood is open, and has a long 12 year warranty. Flaws include the small 1.5 inch wide feed chute and yet another advantage includes the quiet operation sound.

If you simply want the highest quality straightforward juicer, buy the GS-5000, but the Green Star GS-5300 is ideal for if you want every possible feature.

Five – Omega TWN30s

The cheapest twin gear juicer on this list, but one which sacrifices very few important features.

The Omega TWN30s features the basic set up which makes twin gear juicers special: two side by side masticating juicing gears which slowly chew the fruits and vegetables and funnel the juice through a tiny, hairline gap.

The Omega TWN30s is a slow juicer, with an RPM rate of 160, to minimise oxygen spoilage and foam formation. That’s a slightly higher RPM rate than the two Green Star or Super Angel Machines but compared to centrifugal juicers, which often feature RPM rates of 6300, it’s still in highly nutritious territory.

The juicer comes with a 2 horsepower motor to deal with even the toughest vegetables. The Omega TWN30S consists of plastic, but is completely BPA-free, and has a particularly long warranty of 15 years.

Another advantage is the Omega TWN30s’s adjustable pressure knob, so that you can lower the pressure for soft and juicy oranges or tighten the pressure for tough and fibrous wheatgrass, producing the best textured juice every time. Similarly, the Omega TWN30S features adjustable pulp contents, more liberal and less liberal juicing screens to produce a finer or thicker juicer.

Compared with the Green Star juicers, the big downside is that the Omega TWN30S is non-dishwasher friendly. You have to dissemble the machine and wash the individual components like the juicing screws and juicing screen manually, but luckily, they clean quite easily as long as you clean them quickly after juicing to prevent hardening.

The other downside is the tight, 1.5 inch wide feeding chute. However, the Omega TWN30S is also a quiet machine, and the pulp is removed externally for extra convenience.

It may not be as perfect as the Green Star GS-P502, but the Omega TWN30S will still produce some of the tastiest, most nutritious juice of any machine available.

Six – Super Angel Pro

Another member of the prestigious Super Angel clan, a slightly downgraded, less expensive, but still prestigious twin gear juicer.

What’s the big difference to the Super Angel Premium Deluxe? The stainless steel, which is food-grade rather than surgical grade, less resistant to corrosion after years of happy juicing. This applies to both the twin gears, the extracting housing and the body. The Super Angel Pro also lacks the builtin soft fruit attachment, which strangely, the middle range Super Angel Deluxe has but the prestigious Premium Deluxe doesn’t (amazon link to the Super Angel Deluxe [easyazon_link identifier=”B00KRN9HKE” locale=”US” tag=”superacnetrea-20″]here[/easyazon_link]).

But all this talk is relative: the Super Angel Pro is still one of most elite juicers, and not just masticating juicers, that you can buy anywhere.

The RMP rate is a mere 82, guaranteeing rich, nutritious and flavoursome juice, with no oxygen leaking into the machine and no foam forming. The twin gears are jumbo-sized, for extra efficient juicing.

The Super Angel Pro again features an inbuilt cooling system, keeping the antioxidants of the fruits intact whatever the weather. The anti-jamming and automatic reverse systems are both present and correct, while the warranty is 10 years. Being entirely made from steel, there’s no BPA to be found, nor phthalates.

Every component is dishwasher safe apart from the O-ring of the screen housing. That makes cleaning easy and convenient, and to aid you further, you receive a premium cleaning brush and scraper. You can also purchase an extra soft fruit attachment, with small holes to allow pulp to pass through and give you a nice thicker puree.

The one flaw is the small, 1.2 inch wide feed chute. You’ll notice that this is a common theme; wide mouthed juicers are spreading rapidly, but haven’t arrived on the shores of the twin gear market just yet. You’ll have to cut up apples or oranges, but if you’re juicing raspberries or blackberries, you can still funnel them in with ease.

If you wish to avoid any compromise on your juice quality, the Super Angel Pro is for you.

Bonus features of juicers

The top triturating/twin gear juicer brands.Automatic pulp ejection – a feature for convenience. Your average juicer simply stores the leftover pulp in an internal basket, which you have to empty routinely. Making matters worse, some juicers have a tiny internal storage space, which you can only reach by dismantling parts of the machine.

The upgraded alternative is automatic pulp ejection, a juicer which throws the leftover pulp into a cup positioned outside of the machine. This allows you to remove the pulp with ease, and make more and more nutritious juice without worrying.

You can find automatic pulp ejection in all types: centrifugal juicers, masticating juicers, and twin gear juicers. It’s infuriating enough that with some brands, you have to clean them yourself with brushes and scraping tools, but removing internally stored pulp adds even more hassle.

Automatic pulp ejection is particularly important if you’re making high quantities of juice, to prevent your session from getting interrupted. It’s also important for highly fibrous vegetables like kale or onions, which produce much more pulp; if you’re a green smoothie fanatic then automatic pulp ejection is vital.

Wide chute – wide feeding chutes were originally concentrated in centrifugal juices, but times are changing, with more and more masticating juicers incorporating them. Some high end machines feature 3.2 inch wide feeding chutes, allowing you to barely cut up your fruits and vegetables at all. Some are so big that you could place small apples into them without cutting them up.

Adjustable pressure/pulp – a useful feature for altering the quality and texture of your juice. Brands like the Omega TWN30S have multiple juicing screens, with a finer one for more pure juice and a less discriminating one for pulpier juice. Perhaps you enjoy more fibrous juice, or perhaps you want the fiber for your health.

Read Annihilate Your Acne – learn to prevent acne and stop just treating it!

Similarly, with some machines you can control the pressure used to juice the produce. You can twiddle a pressure knob, tightening it to increase the pressure and loosening it to lower the pressure.

Why is this beneficial? Different ingredients require different pressure: a bowl of kale requires higher pressure to shred the fiber, whereas blueberries are much softer and will end up as a foamy mess if you use too much force. Some machines like the Tribest Green Star Elite GSE-5000 even have specific soft fruit knobs, with preset settings for juicing soft plants like oranges and blueberries.

Non-skid feet – exactly as it sounds. Rubber feet which prevent the machine from vibrating and making a hasty escape across the counter.

Safety bar – a bar which locks the lid of the juicer while juicing is in operation, preventing you from getting over-curious and peering in. Most juicer brands simply won’t start without the lid being securely shut.

Self cleaning juicers

An uncommon, but slowly spreading feature. Almost all high end juicers require regular manual cleaning, wasting a bunch of time.

For example, the thin, tight screen where the juice passes through can become cluttered with fibers of juice pulp, reducing the efficiency and contaminating future batches of juice.

Cleaning the tiny spaces inside the juicer is also irritating, but self cleaning juicers are the solution to all of this. They allow you to funnel water through the juicer until eventually, the water coming out runs clean. It’s smartest to run this self cleaning operation immediately after making your juice, so that the residue and pulp hasn’t solidified yet.

Meanwhile, a very recent invention is bag-style juicers, machines where you place the fruits and vegetables into a biodegradable bag, and then place it into a compartment in the top of the juicer.

This bag is crushed with immense force, squeezing out the juice which filters through a tiny semi-permeable in the bag. Bag-style juicers are self cleaning because the fruits, vegetables and their pulp never comes into direct contact with machine’s filters.

The only downside is having to clean the bags after you remove them, but this is far simpler than dissembling the entire juicing machine. Juisir is the most prominent juicer brand to use this technique. The bags themselves can be purchased in single use or multiple use varieties.

The top 6 vitamins and minerals for clearing acne forever

What if your machine lacks self cleaning features? Luckily, high end juicer brands usually come with cleaning brushes and special scraper tools. Many machines have fully detachable parts too, which are 100% dishwasher friendly, eliminating both 1) laborious screwdriver work, and 2) manual cleaning.

Also, the gruelling cleaning process enrages customers constantly, meaning that juicer companies are making cleaning simpler year after year. Things will only improve from here.

The truth about rotations per minute

Best twin gear/triturating juicer brands for taste and health. If you’ve researched juicers yourself, whether it’s twin gear or cheaper masticating juicers, you’ll have surely seen one all-conquering term. Revolutions per minutes, or RPM.

The amount of times the soon-to-be-juiced fruit is ground by the rotating blade in the center of the machine, a feature which many believe to affect the juice’s nutritional value. This is perhaps the single most used term to judge the quality of a juicer on the internet.

Firstly, RPM is the big difference between centrifugal juicers and masticating ones. Centrifugal juicers work by spinning the fruits and vegetables so fast in a basket while simultaneously being cut with a blade that the juice is literally whipped out. Extra virgin coconut oil can also be produced in this way. Typical figures for the RMP are 3500 to 6500.

With masticating and twin gear juicers, meanwhile, the RMP is generally about 120. They produce their juice through “chewing” the produce, slowly mashing and grinding the plant fibers and cells and extracting a greater amount of the juice from the plant pulp. A centrifugal juicer is more of a blunt instrument, though an effective one, while masticating juicers are more subtle, closer to actually mashing vegetables up by hand.

As such, a big misconception has developed. The myth that high RPM’s are disastrous for the nutritional quality of your juice, due to massively increasing the temperature.

The rapid speed of the rotating blades is believed to generate huge amounts of heat and destroy the healthy vitamins, antioxidants and phytonutrients. Claims of “50% more nutrition” are everywhere, and customers everywhere are worried about the high heat of centrifugal juicers. It’s probably the main reason why people opt for masticating juicers, and that’s why masticating juicers are also advertised as cold-press juicers.

The truth? It’s completely false. Analysis has shown that in the midst of juicing, the temperature of centrifugal juicers reaches just 1.2F higher than masticating juicers overall.

That was from a starting room temperature of 73F for the raw fruits and vegetables. Such temperatures are nowhere near enough to damage the nutrients.

When people talk about cooking and frying damaging antioxidants in meat, for example, they’re speaking of temperature of 180C. With nutrient depletion in broccoli, you’re boiling the water at 100C, and plenty of vitamin C remains. A 1.2F increase from a centrifugal juicer will barely make a dent.

This myth is fake, but one with truth is that centrifugal juicers allow more oxygen to enter the juice, with the rapidly spinning blades allowing air to enter. This oxidises the nutrients to some degree, meaning that centrifugal juice won’t last for as long, but again, the difference isn’t as extreme as articles suggest.

Foamy juice is also a risk, since foam produces a much greater surface area for oxygen to warp and oxidise the nutrients. The more foam and smaller the bubbles, the greater the risk. Centrifugal juicers produce more foam, making masticating superior, but nowadays there are brands with free foam separator jugs that you can buy.

To conclude, rotations per minute does impact juice quality, but because of increased oxidation and foam, rather than heat.

What about enzyme depletion?

The ultimate twin gear/triturating juicer brands. This fear is connected to RPM tale above. Enzymes are the catalysts of endless reactions in the body which are important to health, with one example being digestive enzymes. These include proteases for breaking down protein into individual amino acids, lipases for digesting fats, and so on.

Most digestive enzymes are secreted by your cells in your stomach lining, but fruit and vegetables are another significant source and so is the juice made from them. For just one example, bromelain and papaine from pineapple and papaya flesh respectively can mimic your own proteases and dissolve proteins from steak and eggs, releasing their nutrients more effectively.

The fear is that the high heat of centrifugal juicers will obliterate these fragile enzymes and with it a vast chunk of the juice’s benefits. The vitamins and minerals may remain, but more subtle powers are gone. The truth?

It’s a similar tale to above: a 1.2 degree temperature rise is incapable of destroying enzymes. The figure varies, but human enzymes or enzymes that we can use start to denature at temperatures of over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with one common figure being 118F for irreversible degradation.

Just consider that enzymes have to survive in the 37C/99F standard temperature in the human body. A tiny increase caused by a centrifugal juicer won’t impact anything. There’s even claims that the high speeds of centrifugal juicers tear the molecule apart, but this is completely false.

That said, a study did examine this question, testing 8 different commercially available juicers for their enzyme activity. One result was particularly interesting: the carbohydrate digesting enzyme amylase was examined in both a twin gear juicer operating at 110 RPM (Green Life) and a pulp ejecting centrifugal juicer (Juiceman II) featuring 6300 RPM. After 4 days, the levels of amylase were much lower in the centrifugal juice, at 28 U/L and 17U/L respectively.

Furthermore, the centrifugal juicers produced the least enzyme-rich juice overall. So what was the real cause? Again, it was the increased oxygen flow in the machine, and oxidation of the juice. That said, the study did state that the centrifugal juice was still very rich in enzymes, enough to benefit your health.

Overall, centrifugal juice does contain the least enzymes compared to masticating and twin gear, but not by a massive margin and not for the reason people think.

Conclusion

Twin gear juicers are almost the very best juicers available, beaten only by hydraulic press juicers, and these are the best machines you can buy.

Again, the Green Star GSE-5000 is my recommended all-round choice, as it’s both relatively affordable and well-featured. The features it lacks are hardly the end of times, such as its small feeding chute and small amounts of plastic, which are BPA-free anyway.

The Super Angel Premium Deluxe is unbeatable if you don’t care about the price, and want every last ounce of quality a juicer can muster, being completely made from surgical grade stainless steel. The Omega TWN30s is the best low-priced twin gear juicer, as it retains the basic twin gear function and still lacks any BPA.
